The $1.8 Million Polygraph
Failure…
Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Sept. 9,
2008
–
As reported by the Miami
Herald, the legitimacy of a
Polygraph Examination
administered by the Broward
County Florida Sheriff’s
Office (BSO), and
surrounding events, has cost
that organization $1.8
Million. During mid-trial
in a high-profile civil
rights case the BSO agreed
to pay more than $1.8
Million to settle the
embarrassing police
misconduct case involving a
former inmate who was
allegedly beaten and left
brain-damaged at the behest
of guards. A witness who
implicated BSO guards in the
beating was subjected to a
polygraph, which was
characterized as
illegitimate and unethical.
Questions about the
legitimacy of the Polygraph
Examination and its results
will be a focus of a review
order by the BSO Sheriff.
